On 19 April 2001 at 8:15 p.m. flights over Sofia were stopped for 15 minutes. At 8:22 p.m. the right hand of Philip Pelo activated a symbolic light button. Fire geysers enveloped the monument to the Tsar Liberator, and 300 m above the domes of Alexander Nevski tens of titanium salutes fired up in the air. For 3 minutes and 30 seconds hundreds of bombettes and shells flew out of two firing spots, letting the entire city know about the official grand opening of Radisson SAS.
